As an experienced dentist near TCU, Dr. Drennan has spent 40+ years beautifying smiles and improving patients’ quality of life. Since 1979, he has watched dentistry evolve; however, his approach to patient care remains the same – personalized, honest, and comfortable treatment individuals can trust.
His passion for helping others began early on when he decided to enter the healthcare field when enrolling at Texas Christian University. Throughout college, his advisors encouraged him to look into various healthcare options to better understand which area he would like to pursue. After meeting countless doctors and dentists, he discovered patient interactions in dentistry seemed more fulfilling.
As a result, he completed his degree at TCU before pursuing a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio Health Science Center. Graduating in 1979, he began his dental career and opened his family dental office.
Currently, Dr. Drennan is a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Fort Worth District Dental Society.
In his spare time, you’ll find him with his wife Paula, their two grown sons, Chad and Mike, two adult daughters, Kristen and Marianne, and their 11 grandchildren. He also enjoys being outdoors and watching competitive sports, especially the Horned Frogs, as well as upland bird dogs.
Joining the Drennan Family Dentistry team in 2023, Dr. Carlson is an inspiring dentist near TCU who enjoys delivering personalized care to patients in the area.
Growing up, she underwent various dental treatments and procedures, including braces, an expander, and oral surgery. Before high school, she had to have her mouth wired shut for six weeks. This changed her life and led her to become interested in dentistry. Recognizing she wanted to spend her career helping others, she told her parents she wanted to be a dentist at the age of 14.
After completing her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University, she enrolled at the UT School of Dentistry at Houston and earned her dental degree. She then completed a one-year residency in Advanced Education of General Dentistry at OU College of Dentistry. Since that time, she has completed over 500 hours of continuing education as well as advanced courses focused on various dental areas, such as cosmetic dentistry, oral sedation, implant placement and restoration, and more.
Interesting in learning more about the advancements in the field, she remains engaged and active as a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas State Dental Association, the Fort Worth District Dental Society, and the American Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside the office, she is often with her French bulldog, Tito, as well as her family and friends. She enjoys hiking, working out, and being outdoors. She is also passionate about college football and enjoys cheering on TCU and Texas A&M.
Professional, thorough and very friendly staff. I was given a choice before treatment, therefore there were no surprises. I’m anxious to get back there and finish my treatments for healthier teeth. I strongly recommend Drennan Family Dentistry.

The typical cost of a dental checkup and cleaning in the United States is between $200 and $350. The reason for this range is that it can vary based on your oral health as well as the location of your dentist’s office.
When undergoing one of these preventive visits, you can expect us to discuss your oral and overall health as well as what you hope to achieve with regular dental care. We’ll also go over any concerns you might have before taking digital X-rays of your mouth and completing a thorough oral examination. One of our hygienists will then professionally clean your teeth, and you’ll receive an oral cancer screening to ensure there are no abnormalities.
This detailed appointment is why you are encouraged to use your dental insurance to cover the cost, as most companies will pay 80-100% of the total bill for these preventive visits.

To become a practicing dentist in the United States, you must first complete your bachelor’s degree before enrolling at one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the country. There, you must complete 3 years of hands-on and classroom coursework to achieve a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree.
If you choose, you may opt to pursue a specialization, such as orthodontics, pedodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, etc. The American Dental Association currently acknowledges 12 specializations dentists can pursue should they choose to do so. These often require additional schooling and hands-on training and experience.
Once you are a licensed dentist, you must complete a certain number of continuing education hours each year.
